Be a fitness model! HA

My husband came home bragging about this mother of two had lost 70 lbs and was now a fitness model.. um.. talk about pressure.  Anyway, she basically summed up her success to researching what athletes ate and then mimicking their lifestyle.  Pretty basic, nothing new. So I thought about it, did a little research, and what I found was the same thing over and over.
Via Fit & Slim

  • They all mimic a similar lifestyle (why re-invent the wheel?)
  • Ate 5-6 evenly spaced out meals,
    • Most don't calorie count
    • Cut out processed foods and large amounts of carbs
    • portion control ( with six meals, this is totally doable)
  • Cardio is important but said strength training was a must
In my research I found a super cute, super fun blogger: Dedication to life who does guest posts on fitness blogs and has her own super fantastic blog. She shares recipes, workouts, and while she is fit and pretty (far away from where I am) she just seems normal!

Here is a guest post of hers on Trimmed and Fit: Top 10 tips for Beginners (beware: this site has lots of musclely, overly tanned, half naked bootys & bellys).

Fitness Models: Unrealistic Heroes?

One time a guy, pointing to a poster of me, said “do your abs really look like that?” I was taken off guard, and kind of perturbed. I mean, did he think I would have just drawn them on? Did he think I looked fat now? Was that photo really so unbelievable? The truth is, my abs didn’t look like the poster that day. So much goes into photo shoots, it’s honestly unfair to anyone else who references professional shots as “normal”.
Kristia Knowles, who’s landed the cover of countless fitness magazines like Oxygen and Muscle & Fitness Hers, openly admits magazines photoshop the heck out of pictures. Although I know Kristia is absolutely beautiful and fit in person, the reality of what you may see in print is it’s not always reality at all.
When a fitness article shows off an amazing physique, with a headline to match like “5 Butt Blasting Moves”, the reader automatically thinks (even if they know better) those 5 moves are going to give you “that butt”. How unfair is it that the magazine doesn’t talk about their extreme pre-shoot diet or insane amount of cardio they do to shed fat for that day? Or how about discussing the water pills and laxatives they took to shrink their tummy and skin? Then there’s the fact they are posing on an empty stomach and can’t wait to totally pig out as soon as they’re are done. That, my friend, is the reality.
Aside from the actual physical work a fitness model does to prepare for a shoot, there’s the workout the model gets after the shoot. Abs get painted, skin is smoothed, skin folds are removed, and muscles may even get “pumped”. Although this photoshopped picture of Angelina Jolie is an extreme example of what someone can do with a photo, there are very few pictures that don’t get photoshopped in this business. Kristia says, even the best bodies still get photoshopped. So even the people who already have amazing physiques are made to look even more amazing – and we wonder why we have self-esteem issues.
Although some people either have great genetics, or they work hard to stay lean throughout the year, most professional figure and bodybuilding athletes don’t. I have been with many of the top fitness celebrities in their “off season” like Monica Brant and Ronnie Coleman, and they don’t look like what we see in magazines. Unfortunately, many fitness stars use steroids to get their coveted muscle and, unless they are close to a show or shoot, they aren’t nearly as lean as you’re used to seeing them – and some of them are actually just plain fat.
True athletes tend to look more like their photos through out the year. Olympic and professional sports athletes aren’t focused on looking fit for one day, they are focused on BEING fit all season. Even my husband, for instance, used to do the “bulking up” for a show and then “leaning out” for a contest, always yo-yoing up and down. Now he stays lean all year round because he’s not training for looks, he’s training for fitness – and his looks are the icing on the low-calorie cake!
Sure, everyone has “heroes”, but maybe it would be healthier for us if we weren’t striving to look like someone in their very best hour of their very best day. The healthiest role models are probably the ones you see every day training in your gym.

Abdominal Exercises, Ab workouts for Women

Cut back on your sugar consumption. It will make a whole lot of difference on your waistline.
Stay away from junk food. They contain processed salts that do nothing in enhancing your abs.
Snack on fruits and nuts instead of chips and chocolates.
There are aerobic exercises especially for abs that you can do for thirty minutes for five days week.
It is important that you workout your abs but first you need to learn the right technique of the exercises.
Half crunches are more effective in toning abs than full, complete crunches.
While doing sit-ups, cross your hands on your chest instead of holding them behind your neck. There are chances of spraining your neck.
Ensure that your neck is in line with the torso. Bending the neck instead of raising the torso is going to cause more harm than good.
Your movements should be slow and controlled. Don't rush through your workout.
A sure-shot way of making your workout interesting is by adding a variety of exercises for your upper abs, lower abs and obliques.
Rest for at least 20 to 40 seconds between repetitions.
When you get used to a certain workout regime, its time to upgrade. Introduce more sets and up the level of intensity in your exercise.
You must breath right to get the desired results. Remember to breathe out while your making the contraction and breath in when you relax. Breath out through your mouth and always concentrate on your breathing.
For a better result, always workout your abs with your legs and knees bent instead of stretched straight.
Working out your abs strengthens your lower back, automatically alleviating any lower back problems.

Zumba Aerobics For Beautiful Body!

We give you the lowdown on the emerging trend in fitness world

For many, dance is a hobby and a stress buster. And the newest sensation in town is zumba aerobics, a dance form that acts as the perfect stress buster and aids weight loss as a bonus. Known as 'aerobics with a twist', zumba aerobics has become one of the most sought-after routines among the fitness-conscious today, as it is ideal for those who seek to reduce weight, the fun way.

Zumba makes generous use of both fast and slow rhythms, thereby enabling one to work out for a longer period of time and thus burning unnecessary fat.
"It is a very popular fitness regime in many parts of the world. It increases the efficiency of the various functions of the body," says dancer Lourd Vijay.

Zumba has a strong and distinct Latin influence and is more about having fun than anything else — it doesn't really matter whether or not you get your steps right. It also helps one burn up to 450 calories per hour and promotes cardiovascular health.

The movements in zumba are a mixture of different Latin dance forms like salsa, meringue, cha-cha, mambo and zumba shuffle steps that help tone the muscles. The initial classes are divided into two basic levels. Basic level one focusses on four rhythms — meringue, salsa, cumbia and reggaeton. Basic level two adds four more rhythms — belly dance, flamenco, tango and samba. The tempo of the songs changes from slow to moderate to fast and back again.

An ideal zumba workout also includes a diet plan that emphasises on having six small meals. The plan does not restrict one from having one's favourite foods — moderation is the key. Once trained by a qualified instructor, zumba can be practiced at home at least thrice a week.

"However, though zumba is very effective as a workout regime, it hasn't caught on in Chennai in a big way because we do not have many qualified trainers here," says Lourd.

Fitness trainer Sujataha Suro on the other hand uses zumba as part of a more comprehensive fitness regime that includes mixing and matching various dance forms.

Jamie Eason-Hot Female Fitness Model

fitness model, body builder, and writer Jamie Eason. She’s a stunning beauty and the hottest woman who could beat the crap out of you! This former NFL cheerleader is incredibly talented and has been on more magazine covers and photo spreads than most fitness babes could dream of. She gave us a great interview. Enjoy!
Where are you from/live now?
I am from Texas and currently still live there.
What was your first “big break?”
My first big break came when I entered a local figure/fitness competition and won the overall title.  A magazine editor was in the audience and asked me to shoot a fitness feature for their magazine that very same week and it took off from there.
What is it about fitness modeling that excites you?
I love fitness modeling because it promotes a healthy lifestyle and each booking that I get typically leads to exciting new relationships with really creative and incredible people.
You’ve been on countless magazine covers. Which was the most influential in helping your career?
I’d have to credit Planet Muscle Magazine for being the most influential magazine at the start of my career because I landed a cover with a 17-page spread inside, which is unheard of.  However, if I were to choose the magazine that guided the direction of my career and helped me find my place in the industry, it would have to be Oxygen Women’s Fitness Magazine.  I have been on the cover 4 times and I currently have a syndicated column in the magazine, called “Seize the Day,” that I am very proud of.
What was the most exciting part of being an NFL Cheerleader with the Houston Texans?
The most exciting part about cheering with the Houston Texans (NFL) would have to have been the performances.  I love the energy and excitement that comes with entertaining an audience.
Tell us about hanky panky going on between the cheerleaders and the players…Sorry to disappoint you, but no stories.  We were actually fined and put on probation for fraternizing with the players.

How often do you work out?
When I first started out, I worked out 6 days a week for about an hour and a half.  Now-a-days, I’m lucky to be consistent with 3 or 4.  I’m usually in the gym for no more than an hour and I prefer weight training with occasional high intensity cardio.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to get started in getting fit?For someone starting out and wanting to get in shape, my best advice would be to focus on cleaning up your diet (unprocessed foods) and eating more regularly, preferably 5 to 6 times a day, on a consistent basis.  Without a proper nutrition plan, working out alone, will not give you the results you’re after.253099MTI0M1lOOFM0NjQy.jpg

Do you ever feel like you’ve deprived yourself in some way (such as not eating birthday cake) to stay in shape?
I never feel deprived with the way that I eat.  Once you adjust to unprocessed and whole foods, you really won’t crave the junk that you did in the past.  Also, I love to cook and get creative in the kitchen.  Just about anything has a healthier substitute.
Favorite place on the planet?
My favorite place on the planet is at the lake on our family houseboat.  It is so peaceful and relaxing and I’m surrounded by all of the people that I love.

What do you do in your downtime?
In my downtime, I like to travel and sight-see, spend time on the lake, experiment in the kitchen and shop.
Describe your perfect night out. Are you a big partier?
My perfect night out would be discovering a new restaurant in an area where we could walk around and check things out.  I am not a big partier at all.
What do you think is your sexiest body part?
I think my sexiest body part would have to be my eyes.  I like to play them up with makeup I am told that they are very expressive.
Best or Worst pick-up line used on you?
Best and worst pick-up lines?  I think most pick-up lines are pretty bad.  A few that I’ve heard are, “Screw me if I’m wrong, but don’t you want to kiss me?” and “I like every muscle in your body, especially mine.”  There was one, however, that someone used on me that I thought was pretty charming.  He said, “I don’t want to put pressure on you, but I think you are the key to my happiness.”  He got a date!
Name someone you would love to meet.
If I could meet and hang out with anyone, it would have to be comedian Daniel Tosh.  I think he is hysterical and that would be one heck of a fun day!
Favorite upcoming projects?
The upcoming projects I am working on are the “Jamie Eason Fitness Challenge” and a national commercial for my title sponsor, Bodybuilding.com, a fitness book project to be released early next year, a first of its kind fitness camp for 2011 and several other commercial projects with Iovate Health Sciences and AquaHydrate.  Please check out my column every month in Oxygen Women’s Fitness Magazine and to stay up to date, follow me on twitter atJamieEason2.jpg651.jpg884364502_l.jpg,Jamie18.jpg134.jpghttp://www.muscleweights.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/jamie-eason.jpgfashion-modern-bikini.blogspot.com[2lrij8.jpg][6fqvc4.jpg][280qyjl.jpg][4hxphf.jpg][fctuo6.jpg]
